How to Get a Certified Birth, Marriage, or Death Certificate from Mexico
We manage the search and retrieval of certified copies of documents from the Mexican Civil Registry: birth, marriage, and death certificates.
Certified Mexican civil records from the Civil Registry are usually the version that US authorities and institutions require, issued in original and with a recent date. We locate the exact municipality and record book where each document was filed, and request new certified Mexican civil records whenever the copy you have is no longer valid for your procedure.

Certified Mexican Civil Records: common questions
Answers based on the real procedure before Mexican authorities.
Can I get a certified copy of my certificate online?
In some states, such as Mexico City, the Civil Registry offers certified copies as a digital download through its portal. Availability and the exact process depend on the state where the original document was issued.
Does a digital certified copy work the same as a physical one?
It depends on the institution requesting the document: some accept digital certified copies with a verification code, others require the physical or apostilled document. Before filing, we confirm with you which format the U.S. institution requesting the record needs.
Do I need to apostille my certified record for use in the U.S.?
Apostille of civil records — documents issued by each Mexican state — is handled by the relevant state authority, not the federal Secretariat of the Interior (SEGOB), which only apostilles documents of national scope. As a reference, in Coahuila the state procedure costs 546 pesos and is resolved in 1 business day.
What if my original record has errors that prevent certification?
If we find inconsistencies in the original record when requesting the certified copy, we first coordinate the corresponding correction before the Civil Registry of the issuing state, before moving forward with certification.
